
The 2025/26 domestic track and field season calendar is here, and it’s packed with action right across the country.
The national calendar features six* World Athletics National Permit Meetings, complemented by five stops on the Summer Circuit. The 2026 Summer Circuit includes three full World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze meetings and two national championships.
We’re also thrilled to release our 25/26 national track and field event grid, helping you plan your season and know what events are on at what meets. Finally, we’re also sharing our New Zealand Championship event dates for those championship events held outside of the New Zealand Track and Field Champs.
National Permit Meetings
From the North to the South, athletes can expect strong competition, elevated meets, and a chance to chase personal bests at six National Permit tier meetings:

Each event will offer local and travelling athletes access to high-quality competition and meaningful development opportunities in their region. With strong community support and a refreshed competition model, these long-standing meets will continue to be staples on the national calendar.

The summer circuit is the pinnacle of domestic athletics in Aotearoa, bringing together New Zealand’s top athletes and international contenders for a series of high-performance, fan-focused meets that define the season. Featuring three World Athletics Bronze-level competitions and two national championships, the circuit offers crucial points-scoring opportunities for athletes chasing world rankings.
National Championship Events
Highlighting our National Championship events is the 2026 New Zealand Combined Events Championships. Set to be held after the 2026 New Zealand Track and Field Championships in late March in Auckland, within the qualification period for the 2027 World Athletics Championships. The 2026 New Zealand Combined Events Championships will be held on the 21st and 22nd of March at Mt Smart Stadium, Auckland

Athletics NZ Chief Executive Cam Mitchell says the updated calendar reflects a growing sport and a commitment to athlete development:
“We’re focused on building a calendar that meets athletes where they are. High-quality meets spread across Aotearoa, more opportunities to compete, and more chances for communities to engage with the sport,” said Mitchell.
“This is about making sure our athletes have local opportunities to develop and perform, while also ensuring fans around the country get to see top-level track and field in their own backyard.”
Entries and schedules for all events will be available in late 2025 or early 2026.
