NZ Short Trail Championships is allocated to the 56km event within 3 Peaks Plus 1 Mountain race.
The 3Peaks Plus 1, 56 km is a legendary and demanding trail race in Ōtepoti/Dunedin, forming part of the iconic 3 Peaks Mountain Race event. The 56km builds on the classic 26 km course by adding an extra peak at Pulpit Rock in the Silver Peaks. The route traverses challenging terrain across native forest, steep climbs, technical single track, mud, river crossings and stunning ridge lines with over 2,600m of ascent. Starting near Woodhaugh Gardens and finishing at Chingford Park, the 56 km course showcases some of Dunedin’s most spectacular trails and panoramic views while testing endurance, strength and trail running skill. In 2026 3Peaks Plus 1 will proudly serve as the New Zealand Short-Trail Running Championship, attracting top trail runners vying for national honours on this grueling yet breathtaking course.
