The 2026 New Zealand Combined Events Championships will take place at Mt Smart Stadium on 21 and 22 March 2026, bringing together the country’s leading heptathletes and decathletes for two days of high‑pressure competition.
The women’s heptathlon is expected to feature a strong contest between Briana Stephenson, last year’s senior national champion, and Maddie Wilson. Stephenson comes into the weekend with the Commonwealth Games A standard already achieved, while Wilson is chasing the mark and has shown promising form this season.
In the men’s decathlon, Angus Lyver returns as the defending senior champion. With three senior national titles to his name, along with the 2022 junior title, he enters as one of the more experienced athletes in the field. He will be joined by Connor Brown, James Hansen, Jack Henry, Toby Marin, Luke Moffitt, Kieran Sinclair-Lomas, and Max Teuruaa, creating a competitive lineup with a mix of established and emerging talent.
With national titles on the line and several athletes working toward international standards, the weekend at Mt Smart Stadium is sure to deliver a thrilling event.
